Fish Eyes

Fish Eyes

Written and Performed by Anita Majumdar

Vancouver East Cultural Centre, July 20 – 23, 2006

Directed and Dramaturged by Gregory Prest

Co-Produced with South Asian Arts in association with the National Theatre School of Canada

This is Meena, an exceptional Indian dancing teenager who would trade it all in just to be a "normal" high school girl. Luckily Kalyani Aunty (her spunky, pro-India dance teacher) is still around to remind Meena the importance of embracing her origins and talents through absurdity and laughter.

"Deliriously Canadian... the play wittily and touchingly addresses issues of imperialism and cultural misappropriation... always buoyant."
- Colin Thomas, The Georgia Straight
