Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s The Idiot
Adapted by James Fagan Tait
Original Music by Joelysa Pankanea
Coming in January 2012
Prince Lyov Nikolayevich Myshkin returns to Russia after a long absence. The innocent – some might say naïve – Myshkin suffers from epilepsy and is prone to periods of blackouts. On the train he becomes enamored with Rogozhin, who himself is obsessed by Natasha Fillipovna, a beautiful woman with a bad reputation. The Prince’s introduction to the intrigues of St Petersberg society contrasts with his own purity and innocence.
We are pleased to welcome the award-winning team behind Crime and Punishment back to Neworld.
Developed in association with the Playwrights Theatre Centre.
In our 2011/12 season look for:
- Blue Box, by Carmen Aguirre. Drawing from her unbelievable (but totally true) life story, a sexy storytelling experience by one of Canada’s fiercest performers.
- Hurted, Adrienne Wong’s one-woman meditation on family, loss, and the enduring power of the ukelele.
- The AM Project, Marcus Youssef and Adrienne Wong’s installation performance about our brains, and the chemistry of human cruelty.
